No.415 Color-Up Cleaner is an economically designed compound best suited for the removal of clear coat staining, brake dust, oxidation and other paint imperfections that can be commonly remedied by hand use. No. 415 can be used by both hand and DA polisher.
No. 390 Polish utilizes advanced abrasives specifically engineered to remove swirls/fine scratches while leaving behind a professional, mirror finish. To achieve these desired results, No. 390 is designed for machine use only (DA polisher and rotary).
No S-845 Speed Wax is designed to maintain and enhance an existing coat of any Collinite Sealant Wax (845, 915, 476s). While it does not replace the durable base coat durability found in one of our waxes, it does offer its own stand alone protection of up to 2 months. It can be used as often as desired to boost beading and provide a slick showroom gloss.
There are 2 options:
1. No. S-845 Speed Wax is the most effective option if boosting shine, gloss and protection are your primary objectives.
2. If a gentle cleaning (to address dust/prints/droppings/water spots) requiring surfactants is your primary objective, No. 520 Detailer is your best option. No.520 will also leave protection.
On average, S-845 Speed Wax will be 30-40% more durable than No. 520 Detailer.
Collinite 845 can also be layered over itself if additional protection and shine are desired

Ceramic Coatings: Many professional detailers are successfully using 845 Insulator Wax as a topper for ceramic coatings. Check with the coating manufacturer whether a carnauba-polymer wax is suitable over the coating
Paint Protection Film (PPF): 845 Insulator Wax was tested successfully by the tech department at XPEL PPF. For additional information on Collinite wax’s compatibility with PPF, please contact us directly at [email protected].
845 will take on a thicker gel consistency in colder temperatures and a thinner liquid consistency in warmer temperatures. The different viscosities do not alter the performance. It can be used in either form.
Yes. Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is Collinite’s most “machine friendly” automotive wax. A finishing pad and low speed are optimal in order to obtain professional results. By hand, a thin layer is recommended to one section at a time. With DA and by hand, microfiber towels are recommended for removal. For one midsized vehicle, 2-3 towels are suggested.
Yes. Wait a minimum of 12 hours between coats to allow the product to fully cure.
While 476s is a traditional hard paste, it can be easily applied and removed. We recommend applying a thin layer to a small section (2 x 2 feet), and remove the wax once it comes to a haze. Typically, this takes anywhere from 1-3 minutes.
476s contains the highest concentration of polymer protection to withstand the harshest elements for the longest period of time. For this reason, we recommend 476s as a protective coating prior to the winter months.
For a full comparison with durability ratings, see our paste vs. liquid guide →
915 is specifically formulated to provide a deeper show room shine to darker colored, vibrant and metallic flake clear coat finishes. 915 contains the highest concentration of carnauba wax while still offering a high degree of polymer hydrophobic protection.
For a full comparison with durability ratings, see our paste vs. liquid guide →
Yes. 520 should be used regularly to remove fresh contaminants with its high lubricity formula. It will increase the life of an existing wax coat with its unique bead and sheet shine. It is compatible with all of Collinite’s finishing waxes (845, 476s, 915).
It is recommended that 520 be used over a base coat of one of Collinite’s finishing waxes for maximum protection. However, as a standalone, the product will provide water beading durability for up to 4 weeks as it is “Insulated” with Collinite’s signature polymer-carnauba wax protection.
With the aid of a DA polisher, No. 390 polish is designed to remove below surface contamination such as swirls, haze, marring and fine scratches. No. 415 is designed to remove other below surface contamination like clear coat staining, brake dust, & oxidation (and other contaminants that can commonly be remedied by hand use). A clay bar removes above the surface contaminants such as mineral deposits, embedded debris and tar.
If you have a smooth, contaminant free surface, 325 would not be necessary. While 325 is completely clear coat safe, it is designed to renew neglected paint finishes. It is meant to gently restore and protect the paint.
850 is an abrasive medium cutting polish and is designed to restore bare metals. If your metal is brand new or in brand new condition, we suggest protecting it with a pure wax (No. 845, No. 925 or No. 885). Use of No. 850 should also be avoided on painted metal as well as anodized aluminum.

The best Collinite product depends on your goals, driving habits, and how you maintain your vehicle. If maximum durability is your priority, No. 476S Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax is a favorite for long-lasting protection. For an easier application with excellent durability, No. 845 Insulator Wax is Collinite’s top choice.
No. 915 Marque D’Elegance has the highest concentration of carnauba wax, giving it the deepest, warmest glow while still offering excellent protection.
If you’re looking for quick maintenance between full wax applications use No. S-845 Insulator Speed Wax, No. 520 Quick Universal Detailer, or No. 150 Slickr 3-in-1 Ceramic Detailer.
No. 100 Beadcoat Ceramic + Graphene Paint Sealant is the best option for the following: maintaining an existing ceramic coating, adding protection and gloss over paint protection film or for quickly providing fast protection up to 6+ months on new or corrected paint.
Collinite products are known for their exceptional durability compared to many traditional waxes. Depending on the product used (i.e. paste wax vs spray wax), vehicle paint preparation, weather conditions, and how often the vehicle is washed, protection can last anywhere from 3-12 months. Regular washing with a pH-balanced car shampoo or use of Collinite’s maintenance sprays and toppers (No. 520, No. S-845, or No. 150) will help maximize the life of your wax.
Traditional paste waxes, like No. 476S, offer the longest-lasting protection and are ideal for enthusiasts looking for maximum durability. Spray products like No. S-845 Insulator Speed Wax, No. 520 Quick, or No. 150 Slickr 3-in-1 Ceramic Detailer are designed for quick application and are perfect for maintaining protection after washing or boosting an existing wax layer. Both traditional and spray waxes provide excellent gloss and water beading, but they serve different roles in your detailing routine.
Many Collinite products can safely be used on exterior glass, painted wheels, chrome, and other non-porous surfaces to add protection and improve water repellency. They can also be used on some glossy exterior trim, though we recommend testing first on inconspicuous areas. Avoid applying wax to textured or unfinished plastic trim, where residue may be difficult to remove.

Not always. Wax protects your paint but does not remove scratches, oxidation, or swirl marks. If your paint is in good condition, simply washing, possible claying and drying the vehicle before waxing is usually sufficient. If the finish has noticeable imperfections, polishing beforehand will help you achieve the best possible gloss and ensure the most durability before sealing it with wax.
Due to its ultra high concentration of #1 grade Brazilian carnauba wax, Collinite No. 915 Marque D’Elegance is best suited for dark colored vehicles. While all Collinite finishing waxes and sealants are “safe” for dark vehicles, No. 915 will provide the deepest wet look. As always, proper surface preparation and a thin, even application will deliver the best-looking results regardless of paint color.
No. 100 Beadcoat is a sprayable ceramic sealant designed for quick, convenient paint protection. Unlike traditional paste or liquid waxes which are typically petroleum & carnauba based, No. 100 Beadcoat uses a water base infused with SiO2 to provide durable protection on a microscopic level. No. 100 Beadcoat can be applied in minutes and leaves behind outstanding water beading and a slick finish with minimal effort. It’s an excellent standalone protectant or maintenance product on a ceramic coating or PPF. In order for No. 100 Beadcoat to achieve the best bond and protection, the paint needs to be washed, decontaminated (clayed) and may need to be polished if any defects are present.
All Collinite waxes can be applied by hand using a foam or microfiber applicator. A dual-action polisher can speed up the application process on larger vehicles, but it is not required to achieve excellent results. No. 845 Insulator Wax is generally the only Collinite wax recommended to be applied by DA polisher. Whatever method is used, the key is to apply a very thin, even coat and allow it to haze before buffing with a clean microfiber towel.
For most vehicles, applying wax every 4–6 months provides excellent year-round protection. Vehicles exposed to harsh weather, frequent washing, or daily driving may benefit from more frequent applications. Typically, once water beading starts to sheet or dissipate, it is a sign to re-wax the vehicle to add protection.
Yes. Collinite No. 855 Leather and Vinyl Wax provides lasting protection to leather and vinyl upholstery.
Collinite No. 21 All In Interior Detailer provides quick and easy spray and wipe cleaning and protection on all interior materials including, cloth or leather seats, carpets, dash, trim, and touch screens. It is non-greasy and does not streak.
Cleaner
No.920 Fiberglass Boat Cleaner is a medium cut, economically designed compound best suited for the removal of gel coat staining, mild-moderate oxidation and other surface imperfections that can be commonly remedied by hand use.

No. 435 features a fast bond polymer additive which will not remove your existing coat of Collinite’s Marine Waxes (925, 885, 870, 845). It’s unique formula gently lifts surface born contaminants such as black streaks, mild scum, water spots and stains. No. 435 can be used all season long as an “On Deck Detailer” to keep fiberglass and gelcoat looking its best.
No. 850 Metal Wax is not recommended for use on anodized aluminum. Because anodized aluminum has a protective oxide layer rather than a bare metal surface, this product is not designed to clean or polish it. For best results and to preserve the finish, use a cleaner or protectant specifically intended for anodized aluminum.

Vinyl Decals – YES. When applied very thin-No.520, 885, 845, 925, 915, & 476s.
Collinite waxes are produced with a grade of durability and staying power where layering is not always necessary, but it continues to be a common practice among Collinite users who prefer extra thorough coverage and added gloss/durability. If you prefer to add a second coat, it is advisable to wait 12 hours.
For above surface contamination, using a clay bar is almost always recommended in order to achieve proper bonding of a wax. Depending on the severity or nature of paint imperfections, a cleaner/compound or polish should generally be used before a wax. Clear coat staining, brake dust, oxidation (and other contaminants that can commonly be remedied by hand use) can be removed with No. 415 Cleaner. No. 390 Prewax Auto Polish is designed for clear coat correction; removal of swirls and fine scratches. This can be achieved with a DA polisher & foam polishing pad. Moderate to medium swirls and scratches can be removed with No. 390 by substituting a microfiber pad/cutting pad on a DA polisher.
Our waxes make virtually any surface slippery. So for safety reasons, Collinite Marine Waxes are not recommended for non-skid surfaces. The 920 Fiberglass Boat Cleaner can be used in order to wipe away and clean contaminants in the grooves, but it will not offer any weather protection.
Drying times depend not only on the air temperature but the surface temperature as well.
The ideal surface temperature is lukewarm to the touch or as close to room temperature as possible. This will allow for the wax to dry at its normal time which is around 1 minute for a cleaner-wax, 3-5 minutes for a liquid-gel wax, and 1-3 minutes for a paste (on average). Of course these times will vary based on wind, humidity, heat exposure and thickness of application. As soon as the wax has shown a pigment or cloudiness after being applied, this means it is drying or “hazing.”
We recommend waxing at air temperatures between 55 degrees-80 degrees F whenever possible. Waxing a hot surface or waxing in direct sunlight is not recommended.
The screw tops are first and foremost a safety precaution. They are used primarily because they are child proof.

The best Collinite product depends on the condition of your boat and the level of protection you’re looking for.
No. 885 Fleetwax Paste is our longest-lasting marine wax and is ideal for well-maintained fiberglass gelcoat that needs maximum durability. It is a top choice in salt water environments.
No. 925 Fiberglass Marine Wax is an easier to use liquid-gel version of No. 885 Fleetwax Paste. It still provides excellent shine and protection while saving both time and effort. It is an ideal choice for fresh water environments where the boating season may be shorter as it will generally last up to 5-6 months.
If your gelcoat has light oxidation or staining, No. 870 Fleetwax Cleaner-Wax cleans, polishes, and protects in one step. For heavily oxidized surfaces, restore the finish first with a marine compound such as No. 631 Fleetcut Polishing Compound before applying wax.
Oxidized gelcoat should be cleaned and corrected before applying wax. Start by washing the surface thoroughly with a high quality soap such as No. 83 Foamr Auto + Boat Wash Shampoo, then using No. 631 Fleetcut Marine Compound to remove oxidation and restore gloss. Once the finish is clean and smooth, apply a protective wax like No. 885 Fleetwax Paste or No. 925 Fiberglass Marine Wax to lock in the shine and help prevent future oxidation.
In freshwater environments where the season is shorter, one protective wax application each Spring season is sufficient. In salt water and subtropic environments where UV is strongest and the season is year round, two applications per year is generally recommended.
No. 870 Fleetwax Cleaner-Wax is an all-in-one product that removes light oxidation, hard water spotting, stains, and minor imperfections while leaving behind a protective wax layer. No. 885 Fleetwax Paste contains no cleaners or abrasives and is designed to provide maximum long-term protection on clean, well-maintained gelcoat. If your gelcoat is already free of defects and/or contamination, No. 885 is typically the better choice for long-lasting protection.
Yes. Collinite marine waxes were developed to withstand the demanding conditions boats experience, including saltwater exposure, UV rays, and harsh weather. Their durable protective film helps shield gelcoat from oxidation while making salt, dirt, and water easier to wash away. Regular maintenance will help maximize both appearance and protection throughout the boating season. Unlike traditional carnauba waxes which will typically not last more than 2 months, Collinite waxes are fortified with chemical resistant polymers which aid in water beading durability.
Yes. Collinite waxes can be applied to many polished metal surfaces, including stainless steel, chrome, and aluminum, to add protection and improve water repellency. They help reduce staining, prevent corrosion, and make routine cleaning easier by creating a protective barrier against the elements. Always clean the surface thoroughly before application and test on an inconspicuous area if the finish is coated or anodized.
If the metal parts on your boats are pitted, corroded or oxidized, use No. 850 Metal Wax to remove surface imperfections before applying a final layer of wax.
Proper preparation is the key to achieving the best results. Wash the boat thoroughly with No. 83 Foamr to remove dirt, salt, and surface contaminants, then address any oxidation or stains with an appropriate marine cleaner such as No. 920 Heavy Duty Cleaner, compound such as No. 631 Fleetcut Compound, or polish if needed. Once the surface is clean, dry, and smooth, apply your Collinite wax such as No. 925 Fiberglass Marine Wax or No. 885 Fleetwax Paste for maximum durability and gloss.
Yes. Collinite marine waxes are generally safe for painted boats and many non-gelcoat surfaces when used as directed. They provide the same durable protection and water-beading performance that make them popular on fiberglass gelcoat. As with any surface protectant, we recommend testing on a small, inconspicuous area first, especially if the paint is freshly applied or has a specialty finish.
No. 100
Number 100 Beadcoat Ceramic Sealant is a sprayable ceramic protectant designed to provide durable protection, exceptional water beading, and a slick, glossy finish. Its advanced formula bonds to the surface to create a protective barrier that helps repel water, dirt, and environmental contaminants. BeadCoat offers the convenience of a spray application while delivering long-lasting ceramic-style protection.
BeadCoat is a ceramic sealant, not a traditional wax. Unlike carnauba-based waxes, it uses SiO2 ceramic technology to create a durable protective layer with strong hydrophobic properties. It is designed to complement Collinite’s traditional waxes by providing a modern approach to surface protection with quick and easy application.
Yes. Beadcoat can be used as a stand-alone protectant on properly cleaned and prepared surfaces. It provides excellent gloss, water repellency, and protection without requiring a traditional wax underneath. For enthusiasts who prefer a simple maintenance routine, BeadCoat offers an easy way to achieve durable protection with minimal effort.
Application frequency depends on vehicle use, climate, washing habits, and exposure to the elements. Many users apply BeadCoat every few months or as needed to refresh gloss and hydrophobic performance. It can also be applied after routine washes as a quick way to maintain protection between full detailing sessions. Beadcoat is also used over PPF and existing ceramic coatings to enhance and preserve the protected finish.
Yes. BeadCoat can be applied to many smooth, non-porous surfaces, including automotive glass, painted wheels, chrome, and certain exterior trim. It helps improve water repellency and makes surfaces easier to clean by reducing the ability of contaminants to bond. Always test on an inconspicuous area first, especially on specialty finishes or textured plastics.
BeadCoat is designed primarily for glossy painted surfaces, but it may be suitable for some matte and satin finishes when used carefully. Because these finishes require specialized care, we recommend testing on a small, hidden area before full application. Avoid using products that may alter the intended appearance or sheen of matte surfaces.
BeadCoat provides durable protection that can last for several months depending on environmental conditions, surface preparation, and maintenance habits. Vehicles exposed to harsh weather, frequent washing, or heavy use may require more frequent applications. Proper cleaning and preparation before application will help maximize durability and performance.
For best results, apply BeadCoat to a cool, clean surface in the shade whenever possible. Applying to a hot surface or in direct sunlight can cause the product to flash too quickly, making it more difficult to spread evenly. Working on a cool surface allows for better coverage, easier application, and a more consistent finish.

It’s unique formula gently lifts surface born contaminants such as black streaks, mild scum, water spots and stains. No. 435 can be used all season long as an “On Deck Detailer” to keep fiberglass and gelcoat looking its best.
No. 476s
No. 476S Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax is easy to apply and remove when used properly. Before application, make sure the surface of the paint is cool to lukewarm to the touch and not in direct sunlight. Apply a very thin, even coat to one small section at a time (roughly 2ft x 2ft) and allow it to haze before removal. Applying too much product or allowing the wax to remain on a panel for too long can make removal more difficult and does not provide additional protection. In addition, No. 476s should be applied to clean, smooth, decontaminated paint for easiest application and removal.
No. 476S earned the nickname “winter wax” because of its exceptional durability and ability to withstand harsh conditions. Its dense protective formula helps defend against road salt, snow, rain, UV exposure, and seasonal contaminants. Many enthusiasts choose No. 476S before winter storage or cold-weather driving because it provides long-lasting protection when vehicles need it most.
No. 476S is one of the most durable traditional waxes available, with protection that can last up to 10+ months under normal driving conditions. Longevity depends on factors such as climate, vehicle use, washing habits, and surface preparation. Properly prepared paint and regular maintenance will help maximize the life of the wax.
Both No. 476S and No. 845 Insulator Wax provide excellent durability, gloss, and protection, but they have different characteristics. No. 476S is a paste wax known for maximum longevity and is especially popular for winter protection and enthusiasts seeking the strongest durability. No. 845 is a liquid wax that offers outstanding protection with easier application, making it a great choice for frequent use or larger vehicles.
Yes. No. 476S is safe for all paint colors, including black and other dark finishes. When applied to properly prepared paint, it enhances gloss, depth, and clarity while providing durable protection. For the best appearance, remove any oxidation, swirl marks, or imperfections before waxing.
Yes. Multiple coats of Collinite wax can be applied to ensure even coverage and maintain protection. Allow the first coat to properly cure before applying additional layers (usually at least 8 hours). While layering can improve coverage, appearance and longevity, applying an excessive amount of wax will not increase durability.
No. 476S is primarily designed for painted automotive finishes and other smooth, non-porous surfaces. It can be used on chrome surfaces, but care should be taken around textured, unfinished plastic trim where residue may be difficult to remove. Always avoid applying wax to matte or porous surfaces unless specifically recommended.
Proper preparation is essential for achieving the best results with No. 476s. Begin with a thorough wash with No. 83 Foamr Auto + Boat Wash Shampoo to remove dirt and contaminants, then use clay (bar or towel), polish, or a pre-wax cleaner if needed to create a smooth, clean surface. A properly prepared finish allows the wax to bond better and delivers maximum gloss and durability.
No. S-845 Insulator Wax is an excellent companion product to No. 476S. Many enthusiasts use No. 476S as their primary long-term protection and apply No. S-845 as a maintenance wax between applications to refresh gloss and water beading. Because both products provide durable protection, the best choice depends on whether you prioritize maximum longevity or quicker, easier application.

Designed for machine use (rotary for cutting, DA for polishing) No. 631 utilizes advanced abrasives specifically engineered to remove moderate-heavy defects; oxidation, minor scratches, swirls, stains and compound haze while leaving behind a professional, mirror finish.
No. 845
